Jim Bengston
Jim Bengston (b. 1942, living in Norway since 1970) is from the USA and has many years proven himself as a diverse photographer with varied themes. He is established in Norway, but his U.S. background brings him frequently to the United States where he often travels with the caravan looking for themes that are included in various series, usually formulated in advance. However, the footage is not pre visualized (such as with Ansel Adams). The after work also has a significant creative role.
His photographic approach is rooted in realistic street photography where Robert Frank has been a strong source of inspiration. There are often items that are reminiscent of the staged photograph in Bengston motives. The documentary will also be presented in his landscape images that are also strict and pure in its form. Sightings exhibition is just a reminder of his photographic approach which has, incidentally, brought him to important exhibitions and collections in many of the world's leading museums.
A contrast that is interesting and that is also a dilemma for a photographer is that the nature and incidents are volatile and changeable, while a still image is a locked moment. This dilemma puts Jim Bengstons focus on photographs by just to pick up something ephemeral in still images. Thus, the brief moments that the photographs represent admonish us about nature and life's volatility.
